Making way for Baby...Part 1

Willis and I have talked for a while about the list of things we would do around the house before having a baby. Well now that we know we are expecting this is the perfect time to get that list accomplished. Project #1 that HAD to happen was a new bed. Sure I loved my Bombay four post mahogany bed. But the darn thing sat up so high I had a hard enough time getting into without being preggo. So that had to happen quick. The same week we found out that we are pregnant we bought a new king size mattress and box spring set. I had in mind that I wanted to redecorate the entire bedroom, without spending a ton of money. So I looked for some inspiration and seeing that both mine and Willis's favorite color right now seems to be green we went with that. Below is my inspiration room. I wanted black, white and green with very simple clean lines and this was perfect.

I wanted to re purpose as many pieces as possible for this project. So we took our old nightstands that were mahogany with antique hardware (hardware was already removed for the picture)...
Some spray paint and new hardware and we had totally new tables! I love how it turned out. For less that $20 we have new tables instead of spending hundreds on new ones. I love re-purposing!!!
Thankfully my mother came up for the day to help me with the major project...the headboard and bed skirt. We had went to a fabric store the week before and found this perfect green shade that matched my favorite green jacket (my color inspiration). We started by cutting the fabric...

Then ironing the fabric... Then mom got to sewing the bed skirt...The final touches were to re purpose my old lamps.

All it took was a little spray paint and some simple new white shades and we had the perfect pieces for the new room. All of our hard work paid off. Here is the almost finished product. All I need now is a black throw to lay across the bottom of the bed.

Abby turns 2!

My little puppy is not a puppy any more. That's right Miss Abby is now 2. She started the day with a gift from her grandparents (my mom and dad) and right away she new it was for her. She loves her new gamecock jersey that she'll get to wear for gamedays. Later on Willis and I surprised her with a few new toys. One was a blue stuffed puppy dog that she loves. Here is a picture of her that night all tuckered out sleeping on her new toy. Too precious...

My new favorite store!!!

That's right...IKEA! The Ikea in Charlotte has been open for a while now and Willis and I finally decided to go. We had been hesitant not really knowing what to expect other than it takes at least 2 hours to go through. We were both amazed. I am such an organizational person so I absolutely loved all of their shelving units. Willis loved the prices ;-) Everything was surprisingly affordable. Needless to say I now have an Ikea wish list. haha. I do believe we are going back this weekend to start on our purchases. I will post pics of what we get. If you have not gone I encourage you to check it out, just be sure to wear comfy shoes.

Finally pics from Louisiana

Well if finally happened. TJ finally reeled Ashley in :-) I just love this pic of the two of them from their Wedding. Willis and I were so very excited to get to share this experience with them. The Wedding was beautiful, weather was cooperative and the location was amazing.
TJ's mother acted as photographer with an accomplice (so we would actually have pics of her as well) and here are some pics of the big day...

Road Trip

Right now I'm in the car with Willis for our road trip to Louisiana. We just stopped in Atlanta for a little food and we are back on the road. We are headed down for Ashley and TJ's wedding. We are both in the wedding so tomorrow will be a busy day of helping with last minute details. Ashely and TJ have been engaged for 2 years now and we are sooo excited that the time is finally here. I will definately post pics when we get back :-)

Surgery, Birthday and the 4th!

Busy 4th of July weekend in the Whitley household. On Friday the 3rd I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. Very easy surgery, no complications quite honestly I don't remember any of it nor was I in pain at all that day. Mom had come up for the weekend to help me and Willis while I recovered. We had sure heard some horror stories of wisdom teeth. On the ride home from Charlotte Willis blacked out while driving. It definatley scared us all. We are so thankful that mom was with us and able to help us get the car off the road safely. God was definately looking out for us. We got Willis some Coke and a Honey Bun and he immediately started to feel better. He had skipped breakfast that morning and we believe low blood sugar was the culprit. He did go to the doctor and that was his diagnosis as well. The rest of the day we all hung out at the house and even went for a stroll in the neighborhood.
Saturday the 4th was mom's Birthday. I woke up feeling fine and not much swelling so we decided to have a cookout. Daddy was off work so he came up and our good friends Ashley and TJ came down. I wasn't able to enjoy the burgers or hot dogs but mom did make some of her potatoe salad and it was awesome! It was a lot of fun having everyone over and I'm thankful that I felt up to it. Here are some pics from the cookout.

Abby loved getting to play outside

Sunday I woke up a little more swollen and not up to doing much. Lot's of laying around. Late that afternoon I started to have a migraine and nausea which lasted through Monday evening. So Monday I basically layed around all day. Tuesday I woke up feeling fine. I had to go to my follow up appointment with Dr. Marashi. He told me everything was healing great...Yay! I have not had to take the strong pain medication since monday morning now I'm just taking some ibeuprofen as needed and no more nausea thank God :) Dr. Marashi did tell me to take another day off work so I am home today. I will go back to work tomorrow but at least I am able to eat now. The next couple of weeks are going to be busy as well with Ashley and TJ getting married...so excited!!! I'll keep you posted...
